Breastfeeding Support Group
Monday afternoons at 1:00 pm
Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am
Come to this free group that is for all moms, those breastfeeding a freshly-born baby, those having challenges, those interested in learning more about using a breastpump and those just interested in meeting other nursing mothers or figuring out how to breastfeed in public. This is a great time to meet other breastfeeding moms, too! This group is facilitated by a breastfeeding counselor* who will elicit questions and solutions from the group as well as share her knowledge. She will also let you know if you and your baby may benefit from a private consultation with a local lactation consultant or physician.
Topics are as varied as your questions and might include:
- Positioning and proper latch
- What do I do if nursing hurts?
- Sleeping and nursing: finding a balance
- How can your partner help you nurse your baby?
- Breastfeeding in public
- Nursing Accessories: nursing bras, pumps, pads, covers
- Pumping: why, when, where, and how to use pumped breast milk
This is a free, drop-in group, no need to register but RSVPs are welcome.
* Monday's group is usually led by a mom of three who is a breastfeeding counselor, midwife, childbirth educator and birth doula. Tuesday's group is led by a mom of five who is a breastfeeding counselor and childbirth educator.
