Breastfeeding Basics

Nursing twins at MoCoKnowing what to expect after birth includes both parents learning about breastfeeding.

We recommend taking a prenatal breastfeeding class led by Erin, an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, which will include discussions about how breastmilk is produced, baby's feeding cues, proper positioning for breastfeeding, how to know if your baby is getting enough milk, and what to do if you are experiencing difficulties.

We're frequently asked whether dads and partners are supposed to come to this class.  The answer is YES--this class is almost more for them than moms-to-be (since they won't have just gone through birth and don't have as many hormones influencing their memory and perspective as is normal for new mothers).  Dads/partners, grandparents, or friends who attend with you are given special instructions on supporting the breastfeeding relationship.
