My favorite evaluation quote from a class participant: "It was like taking class from a cross between Chelsea Handler and a Porn Star." Second favorite quote after being observed by my manager at a hospital where I also teach, "You made me laugh and laugh--you've missed your calling." My reply, "No, I have found my calling!" I love to teach about birth and how amazing birthing women are. Really, I think my class should be called, "Birth is Normal Because Women are Way Cool."

I am a doula that loves helping mamas have the birth they desire both in the hospital and at home. I am a nurse so I understand the medical community but I also had 2 natural hospital births and one homebirth. I use encouragement, first and foremost, as you labor, to help you build confidence in your birth. Helping dads feel present and helpful during a birth is also important so you can welcome your baby together in a positive way!

Debbie, a certified lactation consultant for 12 years, mother-baby nurse and mother to three breastfed children, is passionate about getting mothers and babies off to a great beginning with breastfeeding. Breastfeeding takes time, patience and lots of help from someone who knows how to guide you. Debbie loves: Water: in the water, on the water, beside the water--fresh or salty, warm or refreshing, I'll take it. Babies: in utero, in arms, at breast, at play, anyway. Mothers: laughing, crying, talking, nesting, learning, enjoying their children. Music: fun, dancing with my husband, dancing with my children, relaxing. Debbie enjoys pampering new moms so they can relax and bond with their babies and have a satisfying breastfeeding relationship.
